Meeting Ground Rules

  1. Each meeting should have meeting owner who comes up with the agenda.
  2. Each meeting calender invite should have an agenda in the meeting description including why the meeting is taking place.
  3. The meeting owner should explicitly state whether the meeting is required or optional.
  4. Meeting attendees should aim to be in the conference room 5 minutes before the scheduled meeting time.
  5. Meetings start on time and the meeting organizer closes the door at the beginning of the meeting.
  6. No cell phones.
  7. Meeting attendees will attempt to “be present” during meetings and will avoid distractions (e.g. checking email).
  8. Maybe replies to meetings are not encouraged. You should reply with yes or no and there will be no hard feelings if you decline a meeting invite.
  9. Meetings will be 20 or 50 minutes long with the last 5 minutes reviewing to-dos.
  10. Meeting attendees will notify group if they need to leave early, or if there might be any other potential distractions at the start of the meeting.
