Google AdWords Account Set Up

Are You Ready for AdWords?

Do you think you are ready to begin marketing on Google AdWords? Are you prepared to sign up with the largest online advertising service in the world?  Below you will find basic step by step instructions for setting up a Google AdWords account.

Before taking the plunge, make sure to do your homework. For starters, you will need to establish your advertising goals and pinpoint the primary audience you are attempting to reach. You will need to build out a keyword list, designate a budget, and clearly recognize the action you want your visitor to take. For instance, do you want your visitor to download an e-book, submit their email or buy a product? Are you interested in building your brand or turning a profit?  Developing a clearly defined plan of action BEFORE setting up your account will help you reach success, whether you are a multinational consulting agency or a mom and pop auto shop.

Creating Your Account

To get started visit the Google AdWords homepage at https://adwords.google.com and click Start Now

In order to continue you will either need to link your existing Google account to your new AdWords account or create one with an email address and password.

I recommend linking your Google account and using this single email and password to access all the service offerings Google provides. Always keep a note of the login you choose and set up account recovery options within the account to make sure your don’t lose access to AdWords even if you misplace the password selected.

Once you have created or linked your Google Account with AdWords you will be prompted to PERMANENTLY select the time zone and currency. The currency you use will be the one you use to pay for your advertising costs and the time zone is used for your reports.

Hit Continue  and your AdWords account will be verified. The next time you sign in you’ll be instructed to enter your payment information and create your first Ad campaign. (More on this later)

One of the most important things to remember when first getting started with AdWords is to remember to set a low daily budget. Start out with say $15.00 or $20.00 per day so that you can be completely sure that you won’t be breaking the bank on expensive clicks. Back when AdWords was brand new, there were a lot of inexpensive clicks out there and you could afford to make cheap mistakes but nowadays you can easily rack up $3000 in clicks overnight. Set your goals, set your budget, create your Ads and make the customers come to you!
