Missing Unique Product Identifiers for Google Product Search Data Feeds?

Google announced this morning that the Google Product Search team won’t be fully enforcing the new product attribute requirement until June 20th.  It appears that Google’s team will be scaling this out over the next few weeks while they work out some of the kinks that they’re likely to encounter along the way.

If you’re not including unique product identifiers in your Google Product Search data feed, your listings might suddenly disappear from Google’s shopping results, along with a good portion of your free traffic.  While this is only a temporary penalty from Google, if the issue persists after June 20th Google will begin rejecting merchant’s data feeds altogether.

For merchants that haven’t already adjusted their data feeds in compliance with the new requirements this extension is a breath of fresh air.  Merchants are able to identify which products are being flagged as Missing Unique Product Identifiers in the Google Merchant Center’s Data Quality page.
